I like to tell people's stories, especially those that bridge sports and human interest, and go wherever those may lead me.
I got started in journalism while taking my B.A. in Communications/Journalism at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. After covering sharks to the local music scene, but definitely not doing enough surfing, I moved from the island to the East Coast to continue my studies at Emerson College in Boston, Mass. (Never fully mastered the Boston accent but did become a Red Sox fan).
Following a stint as a one-person newsroom for two local newspapers in northern British Columbia, Canada (unfortunately, without spotting one single bear), I returned to B.C. a few years later to pursue a Master in Integrated Journalism at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
I have since worked as a journalist, editor and writer in Sydney, Australia; Boulder, Colorado, USA; Stockholm, Sweden and Taipei, Taiwan.
My stories have appeared in publications such as BNN Bloomberg, Financial Post, SKI and Skiing Magazine, Runner’s World, Impact Magazine and The Georgia Straight.
